Over the many generations of Fiestas, Ford has turned out some particularly desirable hot hatches and unique collaborations that now have serious collector value.

From the fiery red RS Turbo to the funky Fiesta Panther, petrolheads and casual drivers have their favourite legendary Fiestas.

Early Hot Hatch Heroes

Some of the earliest hot versions of the Ford Fiesta have become classics. The 1981 XR2 was the first true hot Fiesta, featuring a racier body kit and 96hp 1.6-litre engine. Its good looks and eager performance made it an instant hit.

An even more hardcore model was the 1990 RS Turbo, producing 133hp from its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine. Just 5000 were ever made, making it super rare. Owning either would be very cool indeed.

1990s Zetec S

Remember the Zetec S version of the 90s Fiesta Mk4? The one with the 1.6-litre Zetec that put out 105 horses? Man, that little hatch was a hoot to drive back in the day. It handled like it was on rails and loved to rev.

It also hit the scene just as boy racer culture started taking off. It wasn't long before loads of young drivers were customizing their Zetec S models into mean street racers. Even just a bone stock example in good condition turns heads today.

Quick STs

Ford introduced the first ST version of the Fiesta in 2005 - the ST150 wasn't the quickest, but its 150hp made it fun, while its focus on handling dynamics made it engaging to drive. The later Mk6 ST turned things up with a 180hp turbocharged engine that could launch it to 60mph in under 7 seconds. It was also packed with tech unheard of in past fast Fiestas.

Future Modern Classics

The latest Mk8 Fiesta ST continues the formula of the past two generations – modest turbocharged power and handling on rails. It brings new tricks, too, like selectable driving modes and an active exhaust. Time will tell if it has the makings of a future collectable.

Outside of ST models, special editions could be ones to watch, too. The 2019 Fiesta Active is already attracting interest from collectors with its rugged crossover-inspired look, making it unique in the Fiesta range.

Whether it's a mint condition XR2 or a used ST, the Fiesta has given us some very cool cars over its life. These would make an exciting classic to own today or in the future.
